The two stories assigned this week represent quite different writing styles—one almost simple, the other, ornate. Reflecting on these two stories and material covered this week in class concerning style, write a thoughtful essay on the following topic:
Think of a special place in your life—a room, a vacation spot, a restaurant, any place that holds special meaning to you. Write an essay that will make me see that place in my mind. Will you be a Hemingway? A Poe? Or just yourself. Use as many techniques covered in class as possible to create an essay worth reading. Be certain to use at least THREE of the techniques covered on specific and general emphasis, and give your essay a good title, beginning, and ending; be ready to identify which types you used. Finally, allow sufficient time to edit carefully.

Requirements: Essays must fill a minimum of one full page, double-spaced, using no larger than 12′ standard font (Times New Roman) with standard margins (one-inch all around). Include a header on each page and give your essay a title.
