How to Use the 5 Selection Tools
-Five Selection Tools
· Selection Tool
· Direct Selection Tool
· Group Selection Tool
· Lasso Tool
· Magic Wand Tool
-Selection Tool
· Use to select or move shapes and/or objects
· Your main cursor to move or select objects
-Direct Selection Tool
· Use to select one or more individual anchor points or segments of a shape
· Be sure to click directly on the desired segment or anchor point to take effect
· Only curved segments have direction lines, not the straight ones
-Group Selection Tool
· Used to select all the anchor points on a single shape as well
· Primary use is selecting groups of objects that are scrunched together
· Use to grab and overlap shapes
· You must access this tool by clicking and holding on the lower right hand corner of the Direct Selection Tool and then choosing the tool from there. You may also access this tool by holding down Option/Alt when the Direct Selection Tool is active.
-Lasso Tool
· Use to select points and segments by free handing the marquee cursor around a shape(s)
-Magic Wand
· Used to select objects of the same or similar fill color, stroke color.
